Manufacturing Engineer
JOB TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Engineering Manager
FSLA STATUS: Exempt
LOCATION: Bremerton, WA
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for supporting operations within SBI as a member of the Manufacturing Engineering Team. This position will play a critical role in helping set up manufacturing lines for current/new/redesigned products. This position also will help design and build key manufacturing equipment. Some cross training is required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate must demonstrate/provide the following skills and services:

Project Management
-
4 year Engineering degree. (New grads in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or other related fields encouraged to apply)

Technical expertise to perform root cause analysis – eliminating problems through design analysis, ergonomic issues, and machine/process improvements, including machine purchase requirements.
· Oversee equipment start-up, characterization, qualification, or release.

Excellent problem solving skills.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to teach others.
-
Ability to work independently, competently, and within a team.
-
Ability to coordinate and provide direction for project team members.
-
Ability to evaluate, develop, and implement improvements quickly.

Understanding of Toyota Production System/Lean Manufacturing concepts and goals. Participate in strategic SBI Improvement Processes (Kaizen Events)

Ability to teach, develop, document, update, and improve Standard Work.

Develop and evaluate Engineering Change Request (ECR)/Engineering Change Notice (ECN)/Special Manufacturing Instruction (SMI) proposals/processes for production, including design improvements, and prototyping.

Monitor or measure manufacturing processes to identify ways to reduce losses, decrease time requirements, or improve quality

Flexibility to work overtime, different shifts, and travel, on short notice as necessary.

Ability to work well under compressed time constraints.
-
Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at one time.
-
Understanding of how to utilize precision measurements.
DESIRED SKILLS:
-
Hands-on engineering experience in a fabrication/assembly shop environment.
-
Experience with pneumatic tools, hydraulics, automated production equipment, machining/forming/welding requirements, and electrical systems.

Familiarity with computers, including MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD, and E-mail
